The weekly astro-oracle is a theriomancic message:
Fox Spirit

What is theriomancy? Theriomancy or zoomancy is a form of divination that involves observation of the appearance and behavior of wild animals. Common forms of theriomancy include ailuromancy, the study of cat movements, and augury, the study of bird formations. While augury appears to be more fixed than other systems of divination, with some sources going as far as to interpret the direction of the birds’ flight, calls, and times of day, individual animal totem or spirit animals also have rich symbolism, which can be accessed by tuning into the oversoul of the animal.
I asked Spirit, what do all those who frequent this page need to know this week to stay in alignment with the highest good? Then I manifested several spirit animal messages from fox including a sighting on the roadside, followed by a sudden reference to the fox trot dance on the radio. A couple of days later I rendezvoused with a nature article about foxes on the internet, reaffirming this spirit animal as our weekly oracle.
Fox Spirit incites agility, alacrity, and alertness; indeed, when this spirit animal appears we are meant to move swiftly. Hay House author and oracle card extraordinaire Colette Baron-Reid empowers us to work with this clever spirit animal to draw out our creativity as we adjust to rapidly changing circumstances with resilience and astuteness. Fox spirit helps us think on our feet, using our best judgment and wits to align with a more advantageous situation. “Now is not a time to hesitate but a time for swift action of the mind, a time to think outside the box and notice the many ways in which we might make a move, aware of our surroundings and always clear on what you deserve and wish to co-create” writes Baron-Reid. “Trust that your cleverness, guided by Fox spirit, will serve you well!”
On account of the fact that the fox is characterized by its cunning ability, spiritanimal.info points out that fox folklore and symbolism has also come to be associated with trickery and deception. Indeed, the shadow side of this spirit animal may indicate that we need to pay closer attention to people or circumstances that may be tempting or compelling us down a path that no longer serves us. Fox wisdom encourages us to cultivate more vibrational discernment in our choice and actions as it concerns relationships, whether business partnerships or friendships.
INTERPRETATION
As the new week begins, Australian cosmologist Elizabeth Peru notes that a turnaround moment is here as we reach the halfway point of Mercury Retrograde, culminating in “a wave of optimism and amplified potential.” Considering all the insights and revelations of the past 11 days, the source and Fox Spirit encourage aligned action steps towards the life areas we’ve identified as having a potential for improvement.
Monday, January 24, Mars leaves Sagittarius, joining Venus and Pluto in Capricorn. “This trio is dynamite,” attests astrobutterfly.com. Fueling our desires to new heights, we may want something so badly that no one can stop us from getting it. Indeed, with Venus, Mars and Pluto in Capricorn, as the lyrics of an old Marvin Gaye song go, "there ain't no mountain high enough, ain't no valley low enough, ain't no river wide enough, to be keep me from getting to you, baby!" Since Mars is also exalted in this sign, explains astrobutterfly.com, the necessary stamina and persistence to achieve our goals is amplified. Accordingly, the next couple of months are a great time to get intentional about what we really want to manifest. When Mars is in Capricorn, astrosofa.com adds that we have reliable energy and develop healthy assertiveness. We are responsible, courageous, enterprising, and patient, alas we may be prone to overwork during this transit. While Fox Spirit inspires passionate, swift moment, be on the lookout for raw ambition leading to overestimation and careless behavior, especially towards our loved ones!
Retrograding Mercury re-enters Capricorn on Wednesday, January 26, reactivating the Capricorn Stellium energies from December 2021. With four planets back in this sign, this "energetically stacked-up" influence lasts for 19 days, completing on February 14. “You’ll be reinforced with the stability to hold your own while you climb confidently and sure-footedly to new personal heights” coach Peru and Fox Spirit. Conjunct Pluto for a record of almost 3 weeks, whatever occurs when Mercury is in Capricorn it’s sure to be an intense, all-consuming endeavor. “Get ready for some intense revelations and remember that the truth [may] piss you off first, but it will eventually set you free!” admits astrobutterfly.com.
Just before Venus moves direct, the Capricorn Stellium helps us hold our vision; meanwhile, Retrograding Mercury is now in its action phase. Indeed, when Mercury is in Capricorn, we are skilled and persistent and our mind is clear and logical—we can now direct our conversations with finesse and an air of personal authority. “You’re serving as a Messenger of Light,” affirms Peru, “hence others are looking to you to conduct yourself as a role model for effective communication.” While such a role may still seem daunting, Fox Spirit encourages us to grow through—the rewards will show as boosted self-esteem and a renewed self-confidence. “You’re being given a cosmic lift to eloquently speak up for yourself," the source emphasizes; "Own your power—that’s today’s message.”
The month ends on an intense note, Saturday, January 29 as Venus goes direct and Mercury Retrograde is conjunct Pluto in Capricorn. Expressing more of the shadow frequency of Fox Spirit, this hard aspect could easily cause twisted truths—especially where our opponents seemingly benefit from false promises or no-win situations! With Venus’ turn direct, however, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. As we complete a great cycle of self-love and relationship healing, things will change for the better; as the Capricorn Stellium breaks up, we’re almost there. “Just a little bit more of Pluto shedding and uncovering our truth," predicts astrobutterfly.com; "[then] we will see the fruits of our intense labor."
Finally, on Sunday, January 30, the Sun in Aquarius is square Uranus in Taurus. Easily offending or opposing public life, astrosofa.com warns this constellation can make people erratic, eccentric, irritable, and rash. The battle of the sexes produces flare-ups in existing relationships and challenges new ones. Since impulsiveness may increase the risk of accidents, watch out for Fox Spirit on the roadsides!
