What is Theriomancy? Theriomancy or zoomancy is a form of divination that involves observation of the appearance and behavior of wild animals. Common forms of theriomancy include ailuromancy, the study of cat movements, and augury, the study of bird formations. Individual animal totem or spirit animals also have rich symbolism, which can be accessed by tuning into the oversoul of the animal. I asked Spirit, what do all those who frequent this blog need to know this week to stay in alignment with the highest good? Then, later that day, I glanced out the window and spotted a deer gently grazing in a small clearing on the periphery of the forest.
Hay House author Colette Baron-Reid’s Spirit Animal Oracle connects Deer Spirit with gentle, deft diplomacy and negotiation. Deer Spirit reminds us that we have the ability to be sure-footed and confident while showing humility and respect for others. When Deer Spirit presents itself we may find that our capacity for cool, calm and collected communication is heightened. If we embody the qualities of Deer Spirit we will do well, indeed, gaining the mutual respect of others and finding common ground that is pleasing to all. According to Baron-Reid, this oracle reminds us that “understanding others and their needs will be more powerful at this time than putting your own first. If you do that, you will be rewarded tenfold.” Deer Spirit teaches us that aligned action and heart-based leadership ensures fair and equitable negotiations in the highest good for all.
INTERPRETATION
As we start the final week of 2021, it’s an opportune time to be still and go within; Australian cosmologist Elizabeth Peru encourages some quiet self-reflection to consider the past year’s “impact on [our] soul maturity.” Indeed, under the continuing Capricorn Stellium, worthiness and appreciation are core life themes. The source and Deer Spirit remind us to honor ourselves by being in gratitude for our soul’s growth, for “no one can give you what you can give yourself and that’s the acceptance of your divine soul resonance.”
On Tuesday, December, 28, Jupiter moves into Pisces, the sign of its domicile. Since Jupiter has shared signs with Pluto and Saturn throughout the past couple of years, astrobutterfly.com notes that things haven’t been easy. Now that Jupiter is in Pisces, however, at long last the largest and most magnificent planet in our solar system can be as “wise, spiritual, and big-picture as he wants,” the source continues; indeed, “our sense of faith and optimism will finally be restored.” A major planetary move that will be intently felt by all, since it takes Jupiter twelve full years to revolve around the Sun, it stays in one sign for roughly a year. Peru adds that Jupiter will remain in Pisces until May 10, when it moves into Aries until October 28, 2022. It then retrogrades back into Pisces until the end of the year. While the transit may also be accompanied by hidden shadow aspects, the source and Deer Spirit explain “the next five months will see spirituality and compassion for the journey of each individual soul given a dominant platform.” Interestingly, once Jupiter moves into Aries in May, energy not seen since 2011 will be back for a re-run, this time from a more advanced level of self-knowledge.
What makes this particular Jupiter in Pisces transit even more special adds astrobutterfly.com is that it will join Neptune in this sign. Since both planets rule Pisces, this is especially magical. “When Jupiter, with its larger-than-life optimism and sense of expansion, and Neptune with its mystical vision are in the same sign, we will start to see the magic everywhere” the source continues. Perus adds that Jupiter’s change of signs may remind us that we’re in multiple worlds at once, the spiritual and the material. Since we have a foot in both realms especially in the intervening time between the holidays, the source and nimble Deer Spirit inspire us to “master the realizing (and practice) of this; [indeed], Jupiter’s move prompts you to act with a deep soul reverence.”
Starting Wednesday, December 29, the year wraps with a momentous revelation as Mercury, Venus and Pluto all meet in Capricorn for a powerful moment of truth. “When our mind (Mercury) and our heart (Venus) meet the planet of power and transformation (Pluto), we can no longer say we don’t know what we want,” explains astrobutterfly.com; indeed, “Pluto will write it out on our foreheads, and the truth will be so liberating that it will set in motion the true power of nature.” Peru adds that Venus Retrograde is helping us to observe the most intimate relationships in our lives, including the one with yours truly. “[Especially] if you’ve been telling yourself that you deserve better or that you’ll no longer repeat deflating patterns in 2022,” says the source, “then consider that elevated change begins with your affirmative actions taken today” Well-aspected for establishing a solid and practical new life flow, this planetary alignment and Deer Spirit empower us to break out of old patterns that limit our potential.
Also starting on this day, the sextile between Mars in Sagittarius and Saturn in Aquarius provides high endurance, resilience, boldness and courage; we are enterprising, disciplined, and tirelessness. In career, we may demonstrate a talent for a management position, or one with more responsibility. Astrosofa.com says we are loyal and reliable during this two-day influence, alas we may also be harsh and strict. Meanwhile, the conjunction between Mercury and Pluto is now exact in Capricorn on Thursday, December 30. This challenging aspect could easily cause twisted truths, the same source warns—especially where our opponents seemingly benefit from false promises or no-win situations! To make the most of this challenging aspect, “make sure you don’t dismiss this powerful guidance, because 2022 will come with exciting opportunities that will help you to make anything possible” emphasizes astrobutterfly.com with Deer Spirit.
Peru adds that Mercury is holding hands with Pluto just as 2021 comes to a close, urging us to release any reservations around authentic self-expression. “Consider that as you master how to express yourself (from your soul) you’ll need to tame the personality’s willful want to be in control and to be heard.” While the (over)thinking mind may keep us struck in a negative feedback loop of shame and regret, Pluto shows Mercury that there’s a better way that’s on offer today. Practice coming into your heart and intending to speak from your divine self or soul. Now that we have the planetary flow on our side, the source and Deer Spirit ask us, “what would soul say?”
As we enter New Year’s weekend, the trine between the Sun in Capricorn and Retrograding Uranus in Taurus on Saturday, January 1, 2022 donates healthy self-confidence, originality of spirit, initiative, ambition, a bright and active mind, and interest in innovation. The harmonious Uranian energy continues as Mercury moves into Aquarius, the sign of Uranus’ domicile. When Mercury is in Aquarius, we may spawn originality, intuition, and deep insight into human nature, alas our thinking may border on the abstract. Independence is particularly important now, says astrosofa.com and we may be more outgoing and interested in art. Also on this day, we have our New Moon in Capricorn, amplifying the grounding effects of the Capricorn Stellium. Trine Retrograding Uranus in Taurus, the New Moon gives us good attention, persuasiveness, ambition, and originality of spirit. Determined, imaginative, keen to travel, and have a happy hand in doing things, according to astrosofa.com we go our own way and look for new methods. Deer Spirit empowers us to set some powerful New Moon intentions for the New Year!
