What is theriomancy? Theriomancy or zoomancy is a form of divination that involves observation of the appearance and behavior of wild animals. Common forms of theriomancy include ailuromancy, the study of cat movements, and augury, the study of bird formations. While augury appears to be more fixed than other systems of divination, with some sources going as far as to interpret the direction of the birds’ flight, calls, and times of day, individual animal totem or spirit animals also have rich symbolism, which can be accessed by tuning into the oversoul of the animal.

Then I manifested several spirit animal messages from crow, including loud caws upon waking on several subsequent days, an oracle card draw, followed by the glimpse of one flying over telephone wires. Could this spirit animal messenger 'augur' forthcoming communication?

Often foretelling death in folklore, magic, and mythology, as reflected by their animal group name ‘murder,’ Crow Spirit may symbolize transformation, transition, and illusion. Since they are toolmakers they are also celebrated for their cleverness and mastery, with ancient augurs sanctifying them as messengers of the divine. Specifically, Energy Medicine Practitioner Alison J. Kay, PhD has also associated the spirit animal with activating one’s inner magic.

Colette Baron Reid adds that a visit from Crow Spirit confirms you are coming more and more into alignment with the manifestation of your dreams in the visible, material world. “[Universal] laws of Abundance, Compensation, Frequency, and Praise are all operating in your favor now. INTERPRETATION

As we start the week, the key energy theme is our continued transformation within the Eclipse Doorway of Opportunity. As we near the second and final eclipse of the season, each day is asking us to acknowledge the light of our higher knowing. According to Australian cosmologist Elizabeth Peru, “You’ll greatly benefit if you’ll allow yourself to take actions and make decisions that are mature and wise, rather than acting out of old habits. Your past limitations are ready to shift. All that’s needed is your willingness to establish a new pattern.”

On Monday, November 29, just before Neptune goes direct in Pisces, its favorable trine with Mars in Scorpio, as described by astrosofa.com, is as though “a secure instinct[ual] life in the afternoon. But the passions are controlled by mental attitude.” During this influence, the imagination is strongly stimulated. Open to our environment, we are available with advice and potential energy. With that said, there may also be a resistance to mundane, everyday things. Meanwhile, retrograding Neptune forms another favorable aspect Tuesday, November 30, when it is sextile Venus in Capricorn. Arousing our sensual and caring side, this is a good time for passionate romantic encounters. According to astrologyking.com, sacred partnership and spiritual love may be expressed through religious or other spiritual group activities. On a personal level, Crow Spirit adds that our heightened intuition helps us gain valuable insight through dreams and visions.

Also on this day, two other sextiles form with Saturn to planets in Sagittarius. When Saturn in Aquarius is sextile Mercury in Sagittarius, methodology and diligence are typical of this period. We are ambitious, logical, and conscientious. Willing to work hard for our success, we muster good concentration and memory. We are deliberate and careful with the execution of our actions and plans. Peru adds that Mercury’s cosmic force is energizing our resolve to speak and act with authenticity. “Today’s cosmic energy helps you to break out of old cycles by taking the actions steps which will open you up to new possibilities,” the source explains with resourceful Crow Spirit; “All that’s required is [faith] in your future path.”

Meanwhile Saturn’s sextile with the Sun in Sagittarius brings about great strength, consistency, sobriety, and self-control. During this two-day influence, we carry out jobs with persistence; we follow through and achieve our goals, even if painfully. Not only does this powerful cosmic event assist in cleansing any remaining energy debris from 2021, explains Peru, with the Moon at its closest to Earth all month, this is also a Super New Moon. Given the potency of such energetics, astrologyking.com warns of “unexpected change and risk," especially in light of the eclipse's challenging square with Neptune (now direct). It’s conjunction with Mercury and favorable sextile to Jupiter, meanwhile, empowers us to ameliorate tension and anxiety by adapting to changing conditions with an open mind and flexibility.

Amplifying mental activity and sound judgment, making us capable of crow-spirited ingenuity, the New Moon Solar eclipse’s conjunction with Mercury in Sagittarius creates a good basis for business. We have artistic interests, are attractive and optimistic. We feel so expansive, we may go so far as to make extensive plans and philanthropic gestures!

As the week ends, Sunday, December 5, just after the final eclipse of the season, the Eclipse Doorway of Opportunity now completes. While we’re now through the most accelerated period of the eclipse season, the post-eclipse period allows some much needed downtime to integrate our spiritual lessons and tie up any loose ends. “Now that the eclipse doorway is closed, over the next two weeks you’re establishing a new improved and empowered way of living that you’ll take into 2022,” add Peru and Crow Spirit.
